Chiayi Chenghuang Temple Model

Chiayi Chenghuang Temple

The Chiayi Chenghuang Temple was the first City God temple established by the Zhuluo County government during the Qing Dynasty in Taiwan Prefecture. It is also one of the three oldest temples in the historic city of Zhuluo (now Chiayi).
At that time, Zhuluo County’s jurisdiction extended south to the Xingang River and north to Keelung, covering regions such as Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung. All of these areas fell within the worship territory of the City God of Zhuluo.
Since its establishment, the temple has enjoyed flourishing worship and strong devotion. The City God enshrined in the main hall is a locally carved Taiwanese statue, featuring a finely detailed and solemn expression.
The temple is located at No. 168, Wufeng North Road, Minzu Village, East District, Chiayi City. It stands as a witness to Chiayi’s local history and serves as a cultural and religious center. It has been designated as a national historic monument of Taiwan.
