Description

Chiayi Shinto Shrine Mini Night Light

Chiayi Shrine Night Lantern

Located in Chiayi City, Taiwan, the Chiayi Shinto Shrine is a historical relic from the Japanese colonial period,
originally built in 1913. It was established by the Japanese government to enshrine Amaterasu-ōmikami, the sun goddess, along with other deities.
The shrine served as a symbol of Japan’s rule and cultural influence over Taiwan at the time.
Architecturally, the shrine reflects traditional Japanese Shinto design, harmoniously integrated with the local natural surroundings. During its prime, it was not only a religious site but also a political landmark—representing a key intersection of faith, culture, and governance in early 20th-century Taiwan.
