The Tiangong Furnace is a traditional incense burner used in worship of the Jade Emperor, who is respectfully referred to as “Tiangong” in Taiwanese folk belief. As the highest-ranking deity in the celestial hierarchy, the Jade Emperor is rarely depicted in statue form; instead, worship is conducted through offerings at the Tiangong Furnace.
In terms of design, the furnace is most commonly seen as a tripod cauldron (three-legged round censer), though square versions also exist. Its body is often richly decorated with motifs such as two dragons chasing a pearl, symbolizing power and divinity. On each side of the burner, handles are typically adorned with ascending or descending dragons, echoing the central theme.
